March 10th marked the first Lucky Leprechaun 5K hosted by The Winds Resort. The event was a huge success. Hundreds came to participate in the race along first and 2nd streets on Ocean Isle. The crowd was a festive bunch, dressed in all shades of green with St. Patty’s Day flair everywhere.
The race began at 9:15am and all of the race participants crossed the finish line shortly after 10. There were several different race categories and many winners; the overall best time won a free 2-day stay at The Winds. A bike, t-shirts, and hats were among the other prizes awarded.
After the race, participants were treated to a hamburger and hotdog lunch complete with all the fixings! With the great success of this event The Winds plans to host the Lucky Leprechaun 5k again next year!
